CHITCHAT with Anna Sjödin

In our chitchat format, we meet someone we like and talk about food, drink, partying, atmosphere and the great life in the pub. This week we meet Anna Sjödin, Marketing Manager at Brasseriegruppen.

Hi Anna! Tell us about yourself!
My name is Anna and I've been working as a marketing manager at Brasseriegruppen for about a year now. My background is primarily in retail, so developing a loyalty program was close to my heart. Live, breathe and love Stockholm but have several years in New York in my portfolio. Many would probably describe me as cheerful, prestigious and helpful.

Where do you find inspiration?
Pinterest (!) and in the archipelago when I'm at my country house and get really close to nature. Preferably together with my family.

Three international restaurants that inspire you?
When it comes to New York, I have a hard time choosing between two classic favorites. It's between Indochine, which has been around since the early 80s but still draws a big crowd, both in terms of decor, food and atmosphere. Then there's The Standards and their lamb which is absolutely amazing. I don't think I've ever been to New York without going there and eating the lamb and drinking the Penny Drop (what we call the Moscow Mule). A little closer, I can recommend Ristorante L'Acqua Cheta which is a little outside of Florence. My sister-in-law had lived in Florence for 15 years and took me there one night and it was a memory for life. We were four adults sharing a seafood pasta and it may have been the most delicious thing I have ever eaten!!! If you make it to St. Lucia in the Caribbean, a visit to the "Jade Mountain Club" is a must. It doesn't matter what you order everything tastes heavenly given that view.

We have recently released the Brasserie Group's app. Tell us about it!
As I said, I come from the retail industry where we have long worked to create a more long-term relationship with our customers. When I now started working in the restaurant industry, I realized that there are many synergies between the industries and it is really in the restaurant that you talk about "regulars". So over the past year, together with Brasseriegruppen, I have developed a locality program where you as a guest should feel that you get both short- and long-term bonuses. By simply downloading the app, you become a SILVER member, which means a 5% discount on the food bill. When you reach 20,000 points, you become a GOLD member, and so on. That's the short-term reason to download the app. Later in 2020, we will also be launching rewards, which means that the more you want to come to us and celebrate life, you will also get back on every dollar you spend. In addition, we will spice things up with offers, secret menus and much more. In other words - you're really missing out on something great and rewarding if you don't download the app.

The top three advantages of having the Brasserie Group's app on your phone?
1) Once you have downloaded the app, you will always have your membership in your pocket. You don't have to remember to take your discount card with you, which increases the possibility of being spontaneous. And that in itself is more environmentally friendly.

2) By booking a table via the app, we at the restaurants will be able to know better about your preferences in terms of favourite tables etc.

3) Through the app, we will be able to provide lots of offers in collaboration with other providers. Offers you won't find anywhere else. For example, if you download the app now, there will be a generous offer from Villeroy & Boch soon.

If Brasseriegruppen were a person, how would you describe their personality?
Entrepreneur who goes his own way with his heart in the right place. Love theirs!

To which restaurant and why do you prefer to go:

Girlfriends?
If it's Friday or Saturday, Pas d’Art is a definite choice! Feels like I took the girls to Paris, London or New York for an evening. You won't find that anywhere else in Stockholm.

Mom?
The last time I took my mother for a sandwich at Villa Godthem, it was a hit! A smörgåsbord is the most Swedish thing we have and there is something for everyone. And if you're not that hungry, you can just take the dessert table (with about three cakes, cheeses, cookies and sweets) for 95 SEK and that includes coffee too. In other words, the perfect stop during the Djurgårdsvarvet.

Kids?
The brunch at Trattorian is magical for families with children. There is an ice cream cart with homemade ice cream in about eight different flavors, toppings, sauces and more that is worth going all over town for!

Men?
Il Tempo in Södermalm! This little gem has it all. The service is outstanding, feels like you're walking into a quaint neighborhood restaurant in Little Italy in New York. And I've probably ordered ragun without exaggerating about 20 times. Never disappoints, never gets tired of it. It's absolutely magical!

The colleagues for After work?
Gastrotek Zink !!! Absolutely! So Mats and his team make Zink the perfect neighborhood restaurant, but with the big city pulse in the bar. Joni in the kitchen knows how to cook first class food. As so many times, you just want to have a beer with your colleagues, but at Zink you can easily stay for a whole dinner.

Take Away?
So hard to choose but if I have to choose, it's hard to beat sushi or a hot dish from East. Whether it's a Saturday night when you can't be bothered to cook or when you're exhausted on a Sunday... There's something magical about East food. That's why it's an institution in Stockholm.

Thank you Anna, we love that you are part of the Brasserie Groupj
